My name is Alisha Jasmine Graham. I’m originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. After Hurricane Katrina my family and I relocated to Houston, Texas. I’ve resided in Houston for about 6 years now and it was there, via my high school, in which I learned about Angelo State University. Choosing a university was a big decision for me but ultimately I choose ASU for three main reasons: the student body population, the location, and the campus atmosphere. I’ve attended schools with smaller student populations all my life and to me ASU definitely met that standard. Location wise, I wanted a place that was a good distance from home mostly to gain independence from my family. Lastly, after visiting almost 10 different university campuses I decided that ASU was by far the most comfortable to fit me; most other campuses were metal which is a huge difference from ASU’s nature approach.
As of now, I am a psychology major with a minor of professional education and I have two goals with that in mind. Firstly, I want to continue my educational career by going to graduate school to get my master’s in both psychology and counseling. Secondly, and more in tune with this course, I want to teach psychology classes at a community college. It was at a community college that I took my first course in psychology and now it’s my aspiration to introduce the subject to others that’s in a similar situation which basically was a period of confusion as to what to pursue educationally. In this course I hope to learn was of incorporating technology into the classroom which can be difficult when dealing with adults.
P.S. My skype username is agraham624 and one interesting fact about me is that, unlike most people my age, my favorite hobby is reading.
You've had a interesting life with relocating. I know how that can be because I moved a few times too.
ReplyDeletePsychology is a very interesting topic. I was debating that major at first because I really wanted to do Art Therapy for my Master's. I plan on doing something similar in the future though but it takes a step at a time.
P.S. I hope you have read the book "One Day," it is extremely better than the movie. I really enjoyed the book & read it two summers ago on the plane ride home.
That is amazing!!!!! You have been through a lot! I can understand wanting to be a distance from home. Independence is hard to get while living close to home. I am enjoying it at ASU. ASU is not too big to get lost and it is not too small. The opportunities are great from the various options that ASU provides. I also love the Campus in the aspect that you mentioned. The nature is so peaceful. It is enjoyable to walk to class hearing the birds singing in the trees. I love to read also. It is so relaxing. The hardest thing I have with reading is laying a good book down in order to study.
